It was November, the end of spring, and we had had some rains, thus the plush vegetation, although this part of the country never gets frost, so the grass does not get burnt by the morning sun.
Pilgrims Rest is the original mining town in South Africa, it is deep in a valley, and the two pictures shown below are as you approach the valley floor.
